Spotlight Coach: Brent Tipton
Brent Tipton is The Basketball Embassy's spotlight coach for the month of December! Coach Tipton in currently the head coach of the University of Guam and U18 Guam National Team.
Coach Tipton: "It has been very busy since (The Basketball Embassy's Assembly 2016) in June, but living out the phrase “ball is life” is truly the only life worth living as a basketball coach. In August of 2016 I was hired as Head Coach of the men’s basketball program at The University of Guam. UG has not had a men’s basketball program since 2001 so it’s an incredible opportunity to build the program from the ground up. Along with the UG program I am also Head Coach of Guam’s U18 Men’s National Team and we are preparing for the U18 FIBA Oceania Championships in Suva, Fiji, December 5-10. Four players on the U18 National team had the great privilege to attend the Assembly put on by The Basketball Embassy, in San Antonio and I see how positively that has affected their game, especially their mindset. Every day is a new day to attack with hard work and enthusiasm and we are doing our best in Guam to daily be great teammates, to commit to the practice process, and daily combat the need for comfort and selfishness."
Chris Dial, CEO of The Basketball Embassy, had this to say about him: "Coach Brent Tipton is one of the most dedicated learners in today's game that I've had the privilege of working with. Guam basketball is fortunate to have someone so passionate and enthusiastic working in their program. He's a terrific ambassador and has an incredibly bright future."
